Academic Profiling Test (APT) Assessment Workshop

The workshop is structured around the APT Assessment.* This is an adaptive, individual, online assessment, comparable to the CAT4 and other tests of academic ability.The APT is devised and standardised to evaluate students aged 6 to 16. For the purposes of this workshop, we welcome children aged 6 to 13.

The APT Assessment is designed to measure academic potential by evaluating core cognitive skills across English, mathematics, Verbal reasoning and Non-Verbal reasoning. The duration of the assessment varies according to age. All components are completed under timed, exam-style conditions, with short breaks scheduled between each module.

This assessment provides and accurate, objective snapshot of a child’s skills in English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Results are presented as standardised age scores, benchmarking each child’s performance against their peer group. The assessment also provides valuable diagnostic insight, highlighting specific areas for further development. Parents will receive a detailed report within 48 hours of completion.

*The Academic Profiling Test (APT) has been developed to provide a comprehensive and rigorous evaluation of a student’s academic profile. It is the result of collaboration between leading assessment specialists, former headteachers and experienced educationalists, combining high-quality, teacher-authored content with advanced adaptive technology.

The assessments will be invigilated by Helene Jones (Stephenson), who is a fully qualified Specialist Teacher Assessor. Helene is a member of The British Psychological Council and is on their List of Qualified Assessors https://portal.bps.org.uk/PTC/List-of-Qualified-Testers

Please note that, while the assessment is suitable from age 6, it is not recommended for children who are not yet confident readers, as both the English and verbal reasoning components are literacy-based.
