The Nimble Minds programme combines the teaching and practice of Reasoning with collaborative group activities and thinking games. This course aims to:

  • Promote and consolidate understanding of Reasoning concepts.
  • Provide practice for children in writing short, timed Reasoning tests under exam conditions. Note that
  • Offer a positive and engaging experience of constructive group work with children from other schools.
  • Provide problem-solving opportunities – reasoning in action.
  • Include a small group debating session with a visiting children’s debating specialist from the Socratic Club.
  • Include short, small group discussions.
  • Engage children in enjoyable thinking games selected to enhance vocabulary, concentration, listening skills, critical thinking, processing speed, working memory, creativity, and collaboration.

These group sessions are designed to boost your child's confidence whilst improving crucial learning skills for the admissions test and widely beyond them.

The reasoning resources used for this course are designed for 7 to 8 year-olds and slightly beyond) with the 7+ exams in mind. However all children of this age are welcome and we make everything manageable by restricting the adult:child ratio to a maximum of 4:1 for this course. There are eight places available for this course.

The sessions will be planned by Helene Jones and Sarah Mercer and will be taught by Sarah with Georgina Gillson as teaching assistant.
